FAQs

Q: What are your center's policies and procedures?

A: Click here to view policies and procedures at The Growing Place.

Q: How many students will be in my child's class?

A: At The Growing Place, we believe that one of the most important factors in your child's learning and happiness at school is the amount of time they are allowed to spend interacting with their teachers. To assure maximum time, we have the lowest ratios in the area. This allows us to focus on each child and meet their needs.

Our Teacher-student ratios exceed the Texas minimum standards:

Toddlers
Two-year olds

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR COVID POLICIES?

A: The Growing Place is committed to keeping all of our students and teachers as safe as possible. We are adhering to and exceeding all of the Covid-19 guidelines that have been given to us by the CDC and Texas Childcare Licensing.

These include:
  • Taking temperatures upon arrival and throughout the day as needed.
  • Washing hands upon arrival and throughout the day.
  • Limiting interactions with students in other classes.
  • Limiting items brought in from home.
  • Following all requirements for quarantining and treatment of illnesses.
  • Routine cleaning and sanitizing of the building.
  • Allowing parents to enter the building and drop their kids off at the classroom door.
  • Removing cloth toys from classrooms to allow for easy sanitizing.
  • Sanitizing community spaces between groups.

Q: Do you have cameras?

A: We have cameras for internal use. All classrooms are recorded at all times. At this time, we are not convinced that they are secure and are fearful of non-parents being able to view our students over the internet. We also feel that people viewing other people's children is an invasion of privacy. We have an open-door policy, and parents are welcome to visit and observe their students at any time.

Q: Do I have to schedule a tour?

A: We have an open-door policy. So no, you do not. Certain times of the day are better for certain classes. You might want to call ahead and ask about better times.

Q: What meals do you serve?

A: We serve freshly prepared nutritional lunches and snacks. We do not serve breakfast. Students may bring breakfast from home and eat it with other friends that arrive before 8 am.

Q: What curriculum do you use?

A: We are a developmental program and have found that a single curriculum does not begin to meet the diverse needs of our students. We pull from many different curriculums, taking the best from each. We use a thematic approach and plan activities around the students developmental level and interests. Many of our activities are literature based and we place a huge emphasis on literature and reading. The majority of our activities are hands-on and exciting. We believe learning should be fun in order to develop a lifelong passion for it.

Q: How long have you been in business?

A: We have been in business for over 20 years.

Q: Do you transport to and from local schools?

A: Yes, we do. We currently have transportation available for McWhirter Elementary, Armand Bayou Elementary, Falcon Pass Elementary, Greene Elementary, Ross Elementary, North Point Elementary, and Whitcomb Elementary. This can change from year to year depending on the needs of our families. Please call if you have a different need.

Q: Does my child have to be potty trained to go to certain classes?

A: We are a developmental preschool, and toilet learning is part of learning and growing. We put students in the class that most fits their developmental level. No one is ever held from a class they need to be in because they are not toilet trained.
